There is a tool that can be used to attempt to recover .fbr files that are reported as corrupted.
Sometimes a recording session may be interupted by something unexpected, such as your PC crashing, a shortage of disk space to save to or a fault in FlashBack.
This usually happens if your PC’s CPU usage is very high while you are recording.
This is caused by overly-aggressive anti-virus software (usually Symantec) interfering with FlashBack.
This can be caused by overly-aggrssive anti-virus software mistakenly blocking FlashBack from writing to its own settings files.
The probable reason is that the file is located in a folder that is being synchronised to cloud storage. Examples of this would be syncing to Google Drive, Dropbox or OneDrive.
Very large FBR files may require too much memory to open on all PCs. This is most commonly caused by recording moving video or video games with GDI record mode.
Occasionally anti-virus software will detect a false-positive result for FlashBack and indicate that it may be malicious or hartmful software.
Contact us and we can send you a zipped copy of the installation file, which should not be blocked by your firewall.
Because FlashBack is a general purpose screen recorder, it is not designed to handle the specific demands of recording video games – typically they use hardware acceleration and are very resource-intensive.
You’ve tried to record a program that uses video hardware acceleration. To get better performance, these applications bypass the usual methods of writing to the screen, and FlashBack cannot capture them.
Usually this is because either the wrong Microphine and/or PC Sounds source has been selected or the volume is not set correctly in Windows.
Windows 10 has an auto-gain control option that will track the volume and automatically adjust it so that you do not need to worry about it. However, by taking control away from you, this will sometimes give undesirable results, in which case it should be disabled as follows:
There are a few reasons why you may see a message saying that FlashBack cannot record from the selected sound source.
This usually happens if your PC’s CPU usage is very high while you are recording.
This can happen if your PC’s display is using a very large resolution with a high scaling applied to it your Windows display settings.
